What is Dc to Dc Converter and  Step up Module or Boost converter

Power can come from any suitable DC sources, such as batteries, solar panels, DC generators ,. DC to DC conversion is a process that changes one DC voltage to another DC voltage. A boost converter is a DC to DC converter with a voltage output higher than the voltage output. Sometimes a boost converter is called a step-up converter because the source voltage is "stepped up." Since power must be maintained, the output current is lower than the source current. 

A boost converter (step-up converter) is a DC-to-DC power converter that increases voltage from input (supply) to output (load) while stepping down current. It is a class of switched-mode power supply (   SMPS  ) that contains at least two semiconductors Components (A diode and a Transistor or Mosfet or Ic) and at least one energy storage element: a condenser, an inductor, or the two together. Filters made from condensers (sometimes in combination with inductors) are normally added to the output (load-side filter) and input (supply-side filter) of such a converter to reduce voltage ripple. 

General Description

The MT3608 is a stepped-up converter with a constant frequency of 6-pin SOT23 current mode for small, low-power applications. The MT3608 switches at 1.2MHz and allows the use of 2 mm or less in height of tiny, low cost condensers and inductors. Internal soft-starting results in low inrush current and increases battery life. At light loads, the MT3608 features automatic movement to pulse frequency modulation mode. The MT3608 includes lockout, current limitation, and thermal overload protection to prevent damage in the event of overload of output. The MT3608 comes in a small package of 6-pin SOT-23.
